Read

As we prepare to meditate on God’s Word and listen to His voice, take a few moments to be still, release the tension in your body, and refocus your heart and intention on the presence of God. Today, as we read and ruminate on psalm chapter 15, allow the Spirit to speak to your heart and bring to the surface anything that needs to come to the light.

Psalm 15

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
Those who despise flagrant sinners,
and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.
Those who lend money without charging interest,
and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.
Such people will stand firm forever.

Listen & Reflect

Psalm 15 is a call to pursue integrity. An invitation to align our inner life with our outer persona. Our heart and our actions both matter as we pursue a life of holiness.Take a minute to explore these two facets of who you are: your inner life and your outer actions. How are they connected? Do your actions lately line up with who you truly desire to be? Who God created you to be?

As you read the passage again, allow the Spirit to give you a hunger for holiness today. A desire to live in God’s presence on his holy hill.

Do you need to spend time in a posture of repentance? As a reminder, repentance is the pathway to healing and freedom and the place where you are met with God’s grace and kindness. The truth is, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross; because of his victory over death and sin a new means of righteousness is open to us.

In Philippians 3, Paul says, “I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.  For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.” While pursuing a holy life is paramount to living fully alive, we don’t need to rely on our own self-discipline and power. Your faith in Christ is your righteousness and he has given you victory.

Spend a few minutes allowing this truth to sink into your soul and thanking Jesus for the righteousness he offers. Let go of any shame you’re carrying and prepare to walk the rest of the day in freedom and holiness.

Pray

Almighty God, you who call me to prayer, and who offer yourself to all who seek your face, pour out your Holy Spirit upon me today and deliver me from coldness of heart, a wandering mind, and wrongful desire. By the power of your spirit place within me a steadfast love and devotion, so that today I may worship and serve you with all of my life; through Jesus Christ my Lord.

Amen.
